Project overview

Boulevard Academy on Massey Close, west Hull, welcomed its first pupils in September 2013. The school famously occupies the site of Hull FC's former Boulevard ground and was built for 600 students aged 11 to 16. As the local population grew, a three-storey extension was added to create 300 more places, taking capacity to 900.

The expansion brought dedicated rooms for food technology and textiles, so the school can offer those subjects for the first time, along with two specialist music rooms with four practice areas, two extra computer science suites, a new library, art rooms, STEM spaces and additional classrooms. A multi-use games area and an activity studio improve outdoor and PE provision, and the car park gained 19 spaces.

The project was delivered by Hull Esteem Consortium LEP Ltd as part of Hull City Council's £50 million investment in the city's schools. Our package covered 100 door sets, 300 linear metres of pipe boxings, 120m² of birch plywood to the sports hall and 130 linear metres of window boards.
