Delivering full housing joinery on an award-winning Yorkshire Dales development

Long Preston, North Yorkshire
Affordable Housing

Project overview

The Green Gate Lane development delivered 16 affordable homes in Long Preston: eight shared-ownership homes and eight homes for affordable rent. The scheme was developed for Adactus Housing Association, now part of Jigsaw Homes Group, within the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Long Preston Conservation Area.

CJ delivered the install-only carpentry package across the scheme, including the trussed roofs, floor joists, stairs and full first- and second-fix joinery.

The Challenge

The challenge

CJ did not identify a particular joinery challenge on this scheme. The principal site context was the sensitive Yorkshire Dales / conservation-area setting and constrained local access associated with Green Gate Lane.

The joinery package itself was delivered as a straightforward multi-plot housing programme, with the focus on quality and dependable progress.

Our Approach

Our approach

CJ coordinated its labour around Torpoint's plot sequence and progressed from roof carpentry through first and second fix in a consistent, repeatable workflow.

The team maintained a reliable standard across all 16 homes while working within a development designed to reflect the traditional character of Long Preston.

Outcome

CJ successfully completed its package across the 16-home development.

The wider scheme later received significant industry recognition: Jigsaw Homes' Edge View development won Shared Ownership Scheme of the Year at the Northern Housing Awards 2022. All eight shared-ownership homes were reported as sold within one month, with purchasers having a local connection to the village.
